Sam co-founded BiomeBank is 2019 and, together with the team, achieved the first approval for a microbiome therapy worldwide. Sam is a recognized leader in microbiome drug development and undertook training in gastroenterology at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Australia) and St Mark’s Hospital (UK) and completed a PhD at the University of Adelaide. The focus of his PhD was a seminal randomized controlled trial of FMT for ulcerative colitis and was awarded the best clinical trial at the European Crohn’s and Colitis meeting. Sam has contributed to many international consensus guidelines on the use of microbiome therapies and has been a frequent invited speaker at American and European conferences on the use of microbiome-based therapies. He has previously worked with Cambridge, UK company Microbiotica from 2016 to 2019 on their microbiome drug development program.
