One milestone I’m quietly proud of this year was contributing to the Productivity Commission’s Inquiry into Housing Supply Regulation.
My submission, Housing Supply as a Delivery System Challenge, draws on several years of research through the Complexity Decoded programme.
The central idea is simple.
Australia’s housing challenge is not only about supply. It is also about how effectively we coordinate planning, infrastructure, finance, approvals, procurement, manufacturing, construction and governance to convert intent into completed homes.
The submission explores concepts including Housing Throughput, the Coordination Gap and housing as foundational infrastructure. It asks a fundamental question.
How do we build a national delivery system that consistently converts housing ambition into housing outcomes?
Whether every idea is ultimately adopted is less important than continuing the conversation with evidence, openness and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the national discussion and I look forward to seeing how Australia’s housing system continues to evolve.
