One of the commitments I made through my Pledge 1% journey was to give back not only financially, but also through my time.
Recently, a young professional, Patrick Danso, reached out to me on LinkedIn asking if I’d be willing to share some advice and help him learn.
We caught up for a coffee, talked about careers, business, curiosity and what it really takes to build something meaningful.
What stood out wasn’t that he was looking for a job. He was looking to learn.
That mindset is worth investing in.
I’ve been fortunate throughout my career to have people who took the time to answer my questions, challenge my thinking and open doors. None of us get where we are on our own.
If I can do the same for someone else, even in a small way, then that’s time well spent.
Pledge 1% isn’t just about giving money. It’s about giving what you have, whether that’s your skills, experience, network or encouragement.
Sometimes the best investment you can make is believing in someone’s potential before they’ve had the chance to prove it.
