New Philanthropy Australia report on Collective Giving

Philanthropy Australia have just released a report on Collective Giving.  What is it exactly?  Well it's individuals, getting together to pool their funding and then deciding together where to spend it.  Growth to date has been largely organic and led by volunteers.  This report tapped into 55 collective giving groups from around Australia that cover 11,000 "givers".

The research shows:

it has already directed more than $AUD 76 million into local communities
givers give on average x6 more than the average australian
givers forge connections with their local community as a result of giving and go on to become volunteers
to scale, it needs investment in coordination, capacity building and core systems.

I can't attach the file as it exceeds the maximum capacity, but here's a link to download it: Collective Giving in Australia .

Whilst this report is about individual giving rather than corporate giving, it's interesting as it reflects changes in Australia to the way that philanthropy is "done" and "by whom".
